Birthday gig wrap-up

'Twas a wet and windy Wednesday night on the 20th, and firstly the folks that rolled out to see us deserve a huge digital high five.

Couldn't really ask more from a first gig - a fantastic venue (big ups to the 'Dale) a good crowd of friends, a friendly sound guy and booking agent (shout out to Brett & Kristie) and for our part, not completely ballsing anything up!

Onto the other bands:

Chemical Transport did a kinda synthy punk rock thing. Not really my favourite genre, but they were tight and sounded more interesting than most bands playing that style.

Rapids were excellent, and they'll be worth keeping eyes and ears on. Excellent songwriting, soaring vocals, interesting song structures, cool synthy rocky sounds and great drumming.

The Mool King Device - kind of a heavy Primus, with influences from Tool. Enjoyable for a former metal fiend such as myself, but I didn't really hear their whole set, I was drinking with my mates outside...

Finally, Stimulust were the living embodiment of rock and roll. Gas station sunglasses and a straight-up-and-down rock and roll sound complete with ball-tearing solos worthy of supporting AC/DC. Wolfmother couldn't hold a candle to these guys in the just plain rocking department.

More photos from the gig to come, and we have to post the video and sound from our fBi radio appearance too.
