Grafton Primary at the Gaelic

Grafton Primary rocked out (synth-ed out might be more accurate) at the Gaelic Club on Saturday night, and were absolutely awesome. They mostly played their ridiculously catchy, more-80s-than-80s-yet-somehow-modern-too tunes from Eon - All Stars went off, confetti and all, to the delight of munted punters.

Last time I saw them at Falls I was absolutely off-chops, but GP passed the test of sounding great while I was relatively sober - I danced like a madman. Great entertainment for eighteen dollars.

The support bands were generally electro-riffic, the unearthed up-and-comers One Glove were great, with excellent synth work, soaring vocals, and tight beats. Their semi-epic synth rock was certainly more authetic than perenially obscure Pomo Mofo, who were fun, but relied too heavily on backing tracks for mine.

Although I may have to give them a reprieve since some other Dave Carter (!) directed the video for their latest single, Tamagotchi Girl, which I can't quite figure out.

While we're on the subject of synths, check out this japanse guy with purple Kanye glasses demonstrating Korg's latest synth! Priceless.

So jealous my lovely lady is off to Japan tomorrow.
